Of course, when you drive up to the trailhead at Ma Bell it is mandatory to get out and to take a look at Monster Rock to see how it’s changed since your last visit. Monster Rock is the opening obstacle to Ma Bell; it is right at the trailhead and in plain sight of the paved road that runs by. It seemed steeper than before, with more of the dirt around its base eroded away, making an even sharper angle of approach. No one even tried the center line up the rock.

The situation at Stag Hill isn’t over yet. Our land use chairman is looking into finding out who the owners are and seeing if they would be willing to allow us to use the area if say we did clean ups, etc. Though I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. This means that we have lost 2 trails in the past 2 months. That is not a good sign. Along with losing Lamentation Mt. last year that means 4 trails in a year.
