Long Island Off Road's

RESPONSIBLE LAND USE

Long Island Off Road supports Tread Lightly!'s mission to keep nature open for all . We help keep our outdoor spaces open and clean for everyone. And we conserve outdoor spaces for future generations by promoting responsible off road recreation through stewardship, education, and communication. Plus, we get out there and live it.

Our pastime is often misunderstood by many and sometimes misrepresented by the few irresponsible off roaders out there. Because of this, we must take an active role in the conservation of land that is available for 4x4 use. We must educate ourselves, the public, and policy-makers, on how we responsibly and lawfully use the lands that we do.

In addition to practicing trail stewardship and promoting the education of our hobby, in coordination with regional groups like NOVA and NEA, we pool our funds with other clubs—in part from our annual membership dues—to purchase land for our use.

Trail Cleanups

In addition to packing out what we pack in and leaving the trails we ride cleaner than we found them; Long Island Off Road also participates in organized Trail Cleanup Days all over the Northeast.

Beach Cleanups

Being a Long Island club—we don't only love visiting our beautiful beaches. We go out there to clean up after those who leave our beaches a little messier than they found them.

Land Acquisition

Along with cleanups, education, and lobbying, Long Island Off Road, as part of NEA and NOVA, helps purchase and maintain private land for the exclusive use of the clubs who've contributed to land acquisition funds.
