Jay "MaiTaiJay" Eckert
Recording Secretary
631-680-5679
The de facto club mixologist. Jay got his nickname after bringing over 3 gallons of his personal Mai Tai recipe to his first club BBQ.
A UX designer for his 9-5, Jay got into wheeling in 2020 after years of wanting to break into the hobby but not having an off road-capable vehicle. Prior to the purchase of his 2020 Jeep Wrangle JLU 3.0 Ecodiesel, “Lotaboot”, Jay was driving a sad Dodge Caliber—he doesn’t like to talk about it.
“Lotaboot” got its name from Jay’s favorite country artist, Eric Church’s, song; “Lotta Boot Left to Fill”. An excerpt of the song is scrolled in The Chief’s handwriting just above the fuel tank.
While Jay’s jeep technically “qualifies” as an extreme rig, Jay considers Lotaboot “normal” and you will often see him tail gunning overland adventures, greens, blues, and occasionally black-level trails. Lotaboot’s capability is above Jay’s wheeling experience, and that is where Jay likes it.
When not working, wheeling, or attending Eric Church concerts; Jay hangs out with his wife, daughter, and dog, designs and builds furniture for his home, and experiments with cocktails at his basement bar.
Jay has served as the club’s Recording Secretary since 2024, taking up the mantle for Daddy-O who was the club’s former Recording Secretary before being elected club VP.
